El Nido town is a perfect base for exploring not just Bacuit Bay’s famous lagoons — but also a surprising range of day trips into the surrounding countryside, remote beaches, and even multi-day excursions to neighboring destinations. Whether you want a motorbike ride to a deserted beach, a jungle hike, a waterfall swim, or a fast ferry to Coron, El Nido punches well above its weight as a day-trip hub.
Here are the best day trips from El Nido for 2026, organized by distance and type.
Short Day Trips (Under 1 Hour from El Nido Town)
1. Nacpan Beach
El Nido’s most popular day trip — and for good reason. Nacpan Beach is a 4-km stretch of undeveloped white sand backed by palm trees, consistently voted one of the best beaches in the Philippines. The drive through the countryside on a winding road is itself part of the experience.
- Distance: ~25 km north of El Nido town
- How to get there: Rent a motorbike (₱350–500/day) or hire a habal-habal (₱200–300 one way). 45 min drive.
- Best for: Swimming, long walks, photography, relaxation
- Tip: Combine with Calitang Beach (the beach that meets Nacpan at low tide) and Duli Beach further north for a full northern loop
2. Lio Beach & Tourism Estate
Just 4 km north of town, the Lio Tourism Estate is an easy half-day trip — walk the boulevard, swim at the calm beach, and stay for sunset. Easy by tricycle (₱100–150).
3. Cadlao Island (Hike + Lagoon + Beach)
Just 15–20 minutes by bangka from El Nido port, Cadlao Island offers a full day of adventure: the challenging Cadlao Peak hike (3–5 hrs), a swim in the serene Cadlao Lagoon, and lunch at Robinson’s Beach. Hire a private boat from the port (₱1,500–₱2,500 for the boat).
4. Las Cabanas Beach (Sunset)
The classic afternoon day trip — head to Las Cabanas Beach 4 km south of town for the famous sunset views and the zipline over the bay. Tricycle from town (₱100–150 each way). Combine with a beach BBQ dinner at one of the beachfront restaurants.
5. El Nido Island Hopping Tours (A, B, C, D)
Technically these depart from El Nido town itself, but each tour is a full day on the water visiting multiple islands, lagoons, and beaches. The classic experience — see our complete El Nido Tour A, B, C, D guide for details on what each covers.
Medium Day Trips (1–2 Hours from El Nido Town)
6. Duli Beach (Surf & Solitude)
Duli Beach sits about 17 km north of El Nido, beyond Nacpan — a long, exposed beach that catches surf during the northeast monsoon season (Nov–Feb). It’s one of the quietest and most beautiful beaches in the El Nido area. Best reached by motorbike (45–60 min) or arranged habal-habal.
- Best for: Solitude seekers, surfers (seasonal), hikers
- Combine with: Nacpan Beach on the same trip — it’s on the way
7. Taraw Cliff Hike (El Nido Town)
The dramatic limestone karst towering directly behind El Nido town is climbable — and the views from the top over the town and Bacuit Bay are spectacular. The hike takes 1.5–2 hours round trip and requires a local guide (arranged through the tourism office). Steep and exposed in sections — not for those afraid of heights, but rewarding.
- Distance from town: Starts within town
- Duration: 1.5–2 hours round trip
- Guide fee: ~₱500–₱800
- Best time: Early morning (cooler, better light)
8. Entalula Island (Private Charter)
A beautiful uninhabited island about 30–40 minutes by bangka from El Nido port. Entalula has a postcard-perfect beach and good snorkeling around its coral reefs. Not on any standard tour route, so it stays quieter. Hire a private boat (₱2,000–₱3,500) and have the island largely to yourself.
Longer Excursions (Multi-Day or Long Day)
9. Port Barton (Overnight Recommended)
Port Barton is a small, laid-back coastal village about 2–3 hours south of El Nido by van or motorbike. Often described as “El Nido 10 years ago” — fewer tourists, simpler accommodation, and beautiful island hopping at a fraction of the price. Technically doable as a very long day trip, but an overnight stay is much better.
- How to get there: Shared van from El Nido (₱400–600, pre-book) or motorbike for adventurous riders
- Best for: Budget travelers wanting off-the-beaten-path vibes
- Tip: Book accommodation in advance — Port Barton has limited beds
10. Coron (Boat or Flight)
Coron is El Nido’s famous neighbor in Palawan — a world-class dive destination known for WWII wrecks, Kayangan Lake, and Coron Island’s dramatic cliffs. Reachable by:
- Ferry (Fastcraft): 4–5 hours, ₱1,400–₱2,000 — the classic Palawan circuit route. Not a day trip — requires at least 1–2 nights in Coron.
- Flight: ~40 min, Cebu Pacific and AirAsia operate the route. Much faster but significantly more expensive. Makes a long day trip possible if you leave very early.
Most travelers do the El Nido → Coron ferry as part of a one-way Palawan circuit (flying into Puerto Princesa, visiting El Nido, then ferry to Coron, fly home from Coron — or reverse).
Day Trip Planning Tips
- Rent a motorbike for maximum flexibility on land-based trips — see our motorbike rental guide
- Book boats in advance for private island charters — operators at El Nido port fill up fast during peak season
- Start early — the best light and fewest crowds are before 10 AM
- Bring cash — remote beaches and small villages rarely have card payment or ATMs
- Check weather — rough seas cancel boat trips; have a land-based backup plan
- Download offline maps — mobile signal disappears quickly outside El Nido town
