Taytay Fort and Lake Danao (North, 2 Hours)

The most popular and accessible day trip from El Nido. Taytay is El Nido’s neighbouring municipality to the north — home to a 17th-century Spanish fort (Fuerza de Santa Isabel) that rivals anything in the Philippines for historical atmosphere. Built by the Spanish in 1667, the fort is remarkably preserved and almost entirely unvisited by tourists — you may have it entirely to yourself.

Nacpan and Duli Beaches (North, 45-60 Minutes)

Not strictly a day trip — these beaches are an essential El Nido experience that most visitors do on a motorbike day away from island hopping. Nacpan Beach (4 km of golden sand) is El Nido’s most beautiful land-based beach; Duli Beach (5 km further north) is quieter and more rustic with small surf. The drive through Palawan’s jungle interior is beautiful in itself.

Local Tagbanua communities farm here and the valley is almost entirely off the tourist radar. A motorbike ride to Dewil Valley, with a local guide arranged through the El Nido Tourism Office, provides rare access to traditional Palawan agriculture and indigenous culture. Unpaved roads beyond the Sibaltan junction require an off-road capable bike.

Sibaltan and the Eastern Coast (North, 2-3 Hours)

Sibaltan is a small fishing village on El Nido’s eastern coast — the opposite side of the peninsula from Bacuit Bay. The drive from El Nido through the central limestone spine is spectacular. Sibaltan itself has mangroves, a quiet beach, and the extraordinary Elephant Island offshore. Some operators run island-hopping tours from Sibaltan to islands in the Linapacan group that are inaccessible from El Nido town. Ask at the El Nido Tourism Office for Sibaltan-based tour operators.

Port Barton (South, 3-4 Hours — Overnight Recommended)

Technically reachable as a day trip by speedboat during dry season, but the journey time makes Port Barton better suited as an overnight extension.
