El Nido in June 2026: What to Expect in the Wet Season
June marks the beginning of El Nido’s wet season — a time when most travel blogs say “avoid it” and most travellers comply. That creates an opportunity: El Nido in June is quieter, dramatically cheaper, and still very beautiful. But you need to understand what you are signing up for. Rain, choppy seas, and occasional tour cancellations are real — and so are lush green landscapes, near-empty beaches, and accommodation rates 30-50% below peak season.
This guide gives you an honest picture of El Nido in June 2026 so you can decide whether it suits your trip.
June Weather in El Nido
- Average temperature: 27-30°C — warm but slightly cooler than peak dry season
- Rainfall: Significant — typically 10-15 rainy days in June, with afternoon showers being common
- Rain pattern: Usually short, heavy bursts (1-2 hours) rather than all-day rain, followed by sun
- Sea conditions: Variable — some days flat and beautiful, some days rough with 1-2 metre swells
- Wind: Southwest monsoon (habagat) begins — wind direction shifts and seas can be unpredictable
- Typhoon risk: Low in June itself, but rises from July onward. Check forecasts if you are there late June.
Is June a Good Time to Visit El Nido?
Honest answer: June is acceptable but not ideal. It depends on your priorities.
- Pros: 30-50% cheaper accommodation, far fewer tourists, lush green scenery, better availability everywhere, no need to book months ahead
- Cons: Island-hopping tours get cancelled on rough-sea days (sometimes 3-5 consecutive days), snorkelling visibility decreases, some outer island routes are closed, the El Nido-to-Coron boat trip is not recommended
If island hopping is your main goal, June is risky — you may arrive and find several consecutive tour-cancelled days due to waves. If you are happy exploring El Nido town, hiking, visiting inner beaches, and taking tours on the good days, June can be rewarding.

What Tours Run in June
Tour operators assess conditions daily. On calm-sea days in June, all four standard tours run normally. On rough days, tours are cancelled entirely or restricted to sheltered inner-bay routes.
- Tour A (Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon): Runs on most days — these lagoons are sheltered behind the limestone massif and accessible even in moderate swells
- Tour B (Entalula Beach, Pinagbuyutan Island): More exposed — often cancelled in June swells
- Tour C (Helicopter Island, Star Beach): Mixed — Helicopter Island is exposed, so this tour cancels more in June
- Tour D (Tapuitan Island, Bulalacao Island): Furthest out — most frequently cancelled in wet season
Strategy: plan to stay 5-7 nights to guarantee you get at least 2-3 good tour days. One-week stays work much better than 3-night trips in June.
What to Do on Rainy Days in El Nido
- Calle Real restaurants and cafes: El Nido’s restaurant scene is excellent — a rainy day is perfect for a long lunch at Altrove or a coffee at Brewed Awakening
- El Nido market: The covered public market is vibrant on rainy mornings — buy fresh fruit, local snacks, and interact with locals
- Nacpan Beach by motorbike: Even in rain, the drive north through lush green Palawan jungle to Nacpan is beautiful. The beach itself is long enough to find sheltered spots.
- Maremegmeg (Las Cabanas) Beach: Closer to town — a 10-minute tricycle ride. The iconic zipline over the bay runs even on cloudy days.
- Day trip to Taytay: The historic Taytay Fort (about 2 hours north) is worth visiting — see our El Nido to Taytay day trip guide
- Scuba diving: Dive sites are less affected by surface swell than snorkelling tours — divers can often go out when surface-based island hopping is cancelled
June Crowds and Prices
June is the start of the low season and the difference is dramatic compared to peak (December-April):
- Hotels: 30-50% cheaper than peak rates. Walk-in availability is common even at mid-range properties.
- Restaurants: No queues. Reservations unnecessary except at the most popular spots on weekends.
- Tours: Shared tour boats are smaller groups — sometimes just 4-6 people instead of 12-15. More intimate experience on the days tours run.
- Beaches: Nacpan Beach, which sees hundreds of visitors daily in peak season, may have only a handful of people in June.

AirSWIFT flights Manila-El Nido (ENI) have excellent availability in June — no advance booking pressure. Alternatively, fly Manila-Puerto Princesa (PPS) with Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines and take the van transfer (5-6 hours). Van transfers run daily regardless of season.
What to Pack for El Nido in June
From our full El Nido packing list, June-specific additions:
- Compact rain jacket or poncho: Essential — afternoon showers can be heavy

- Dry bag: More critical in the wet season — protect your phone and camera
- Insect repellent: Wet season = more mosquitoes, especially at dawn and dusk
- Flexible itinerary mindset: The most important thing to pack — accept that plans may change based on weather
