Transportation to and around El Nido is an important consideration for many travelers. This article provides detailed information on how to get to El Nido from Taiwan/Hong Kong and various transportation options on the island.

Getting to El Nido

Flying There

There are no direct flights from Taiwan to El Nido, so you’ll need to transit through Manila.

#### Option 1: Manila Transit

This is the most common route. Fly from Taiwan to Manila Airport (MNL), then take a domestic flight to Puerto Princesa Airport (approximately 1.5 hours), followed by a 5-6 hour van or bus ride to El Nido.

#### Option 2: Fly to El Nido Directly

El Nido Airport (ENI) is the closest airport to El Nido. AirSwift operates direct flights from Manila. Flight time is about 1 hour, but flights are limited and seats sell out quickly during peak season.

Getting Around El Nido

Tricycles

This is the main form of transportation in El Nido Town, available in two types:

#### Public Tricycles

Shared rides, cheap prices, about 20-50 PHP per person. But need to wait until full – departure time is hard to predict.

#### Chartered Tricycles

Rent an entire tricycle, suitable for groups or those wanting flexible timing. Prices about 150-500 PHP depending on distance. It is recommended to negotiate before boarding.

Motorbike Rental

For more freedom to explore? Motorbike rental is the best option! Daily rental about 300-500 PHP including fuel. International driver’s license is required – please bring yours. It is recommended to ride in the morning or evening to avoid the hot midday sun.

Van Charter

For groups or those with lots of luggage, a van is a comfortable choice. You can pre-book for airport transfers or multi-day trips. Prices vary by itinerary and distance.

#### Private Car

If you want more comfort, you can charter an entire car. About 3,000-5,000 PHP, negotiable. Suitable for groups of 4 or more.

#### Bus

Budget-friendly option, tickets about 350-500 PHP. Disadvantage is fewer departures and potentially crowded. Experiencing local public transport is also a unique experience.

From El Nido Airport

The airport is about 4 km from town center. Tricycle can take you to town, about 150-200 PHP.

Island Hopping Transportation

Join a Tour

Island hopping tour fees already include boat fare and transportation. There will be hotel pick-up in the morning – very convenient. This is the choice of most travelers – no need to arrange transportation yourself.

Charter a Boat

Want more freedom to explore islands? You can charter an outrigger boat. About 3,000-6,000 PHP depending on itinerary and boat size. Suitable for travelers with flexible time wanting in-depth exploration.

Transportation Tips

Bargaining Tips

Tricycles without meters must be negotiated! The quoted price is usually twice the actual price. Remember to bargain. Keep a friendly but firm attitude – you can usually get a reasonable price.

Safety Tips

When riding motorbikes, always wear a helmet. Roads can be rough – hold on tight. Be extra careful when riding at night as visibility is poor. Avoid riding during rain – roads can be slippery.

Schedule

El Nido transportation doesn’t have precise schedules – vehicles depart based on passenger volume. It is recommended to give yourself extra time and not to pack your itinerary too tightly.
