Choosing where to stay in El Nido is about more than just your hotel — it’s about the neighbourhood, the access to beaches and restaurants, and the kind of experience you want. El Nido has five distinct areas, each with its own character and trade-offs. This guide breaks them all down so you can pick the right base for your trip.

El Nido Town Center
The heart of El Nido — a compact grid of streets packed with guesthouses, restaurants, bars, tour offices, ATMs, pharmacies, and dive shops. Everything is walkable from here, and the main port (where island-hopping tours depart) is a 5-minute walk.
Pros
- Closest to the tour departure port — no transport cost to reach your boat
- Best access to restaurants, bars, nightlife, shopping, and ATMs
- Widest range of accommodation from ₱500 dorms to ₱4,000 boutique rooms
- Best for solo travellers and social backpackers
Cons
- No beach — the town has a narrow strip but it’s not a swimming beach
- Can be noisy — bars, generators, and early-morning tour boats
- Less scenic than Corong-Corong or Lio
Best Accommodation in Town Center
- Budget: Happiness Hostel (₱600–₱1,200), Matinloc Hostel (₱700–₱1,500)
- Mid-range: The Nest El Nido (₱3,500–₱7,000 — excellent hilltop views), Spin Designer Hostel (₱2,000–₱3,500)
Corong-Corong
A 2km walk or short tricycle ride south of town, Corong-Corong is a beachfront strip of restaurants, bars, and accommodation facing Bacuit Bay. It’s quieter than town while still being close enough to walk to everything. The sunsets here are El Nido’s finest — and the beach is perfect for sundowners even if it’s not a swimming beach.
Pros
- Best sunset views in El Nido — direct west-facing bay view
- More relaxed atmosphere than town center
- Great restaurant and bar strip (Republica, Sava, Art Cafe nearby)
- Boutique and mid-range resorts with beachfront access
Cons
- Tricycle or 25-min walk to tour port (₱50–₱80)
- Beach is narrow with grey sand — not a swimming beach
Best Accommodation in Corong-Corong
- Boutique: Buena Vida Resort & Spa (₱5,500–₱12,000 — stunning bay views, excellent restaurant)
- Mid-range: Sava Beach Bar & Resort (₱3,000–₱6,000), Sea Cocoon Hotel (₱4,000–₱8,000)
Lio Estate (Lio Beach)
About 3km north of town, the Lio Tourism Estate is a planned eco-friendly resort zone built around a long, calm, white-sand beach. It’s the most upscale area accessible by road — quiet, well-maintained, and a completely different feel from the bustle of town. Lio Airport is a 5-minute walk from the beach, making it ideal for an early arrival or pre-flight last swim.
Pros
- Beautiful, calm Lio Beach — the best swimming beach within easy reach of town
- Quiet and uncrowded, especially weekday mornings
- Walking distance from Lio Airport — no transfer stress
- Upscale dining and resort facilities
Cons
- Furthest from the tour port (₱150–₱200 tricycle)
- Limited restaurant options outside the resort
- More expensive than town and Corong-Corong
Best Accommodation at Lio
- Upscale: Lio Beach Resort (₱8,000–₱18,000 — flagship property, direct beach, pool, excellent restaurant)
- Mid-range: Cauayan Island Resort’s mainland annex, smaller Lio guesthouses (₱3,000–₱6,000)
Las Cabanas / Maremegmeg Beach
4km south of town and past Corong-Corong, Las Cabanas (also called Maremegmeg Beach) is El Nido’s best sunset beach accessible by road. A small cluster of bungalows and beach bars operate here, and the Las Cabanas Beach Resort has a zip-line across the bay.
Pros
- Beautiful west-facing beach with excellent sunset views
- More beach-resort feel than Corong-Corong
- Quieter and less crowded than town
- Fun zip-line activity (₱350–₱500)
Cons
- Far from the tour port (₱100–₱150 tricycle)
- Limited restaurant options — mostly resort dining
- Fewer accommodation choices than town or Corong-Corong
Private Island Resorts
For a completely different experience, the private island resorts — Miniloc, Lagen, Pangulasian, and Cauayan — are reachable only by boat (20–45 min from El Nido town). You’re in the heart of the archipelago, waking up surrounded by limestone cliffs and turquoise water. All meals and most activities are included.
- Miniloc Island Resort: ₱25,000–₱45,000/night (all-inclusive) — direct lagoon access
- Pangulasian Island Resort: ₱28,000–₱55,000/night — most luxurious
- Lagen Island Resort: ₱22,000–₱40,000/night — most eco-focused
- Cauayan Island Resort: ₱18,000–₱35,000/night — best for diving families
