Day-by-Day Plan
Day 1 — Arrival & Town Orientation
Arrive in El Nido (fly or van from PPS). Check in, walk Calle Hama, eat at the public market (fresh grilled fish, ₱120). Book Tour A for tomorrow morning at the tourism office on Real Street. Sunset drinks at Republica or Las Cabañas Beach. Early night — tomorrow is a 7 AM start.
Day 2 — Tour A: Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon, Seven Commando Beach
El Nido’s most iconic island-hopping tour. Depart 7 AM. Kayak the Big Lagoon, swim through the Small Lagoon rock passage, lunch on Seven Commando Beach. Return by 4 PM. See our island hopping tips for crowd-beating strategies.
Day 3 — Taraw Cliff Sunrise + Rest Day
Depart 4:30 AM for the Taraw Cliff summit hike (guide mandatory, ₱600). Back in town by 8 AM. Breakfast, then rest — afternoon free for massage, swimming at the town beach, or exploring the market. Evening: ihaw-ihaw skewers on Calle Hama.
Day 4 — Tour C: Shimizu Island, Big Lagoon, Star Beach
Deep blue water at Shimizu Island (20m visibility), return to the lagoon from the sea approach, finish at Star Beach. Tour C offers the best snorkelling of the four standard tours. Depart 7 AM, return 4 PM.
Day 5 — Tour B: Cathedral Cave, Hidden Beach, Pinagbuyutan Island
The cave exploration tour — paddle into Cathedral Cave, swim through the Hidden Beach rock tunnel, and lunch on the pristine beach at Pinagbuyutan. Fewer boats than Tour A; feel like an explorer.
Day 6 — Tour D: Matinloc Shrine, Tapiutan Island, Helicopter Island
The furthest and most dramatic tour. Matinloc Shrine clifftop views, the twin-rock Tapiutan formations, and the unmistakable Helicopter Island profile from the water. Full day — depart 7 AM, return 5 PM. Pack extra snacks and a full charge on your camera.
Day 7 — Makinit Hot Springs & Nacpan Beach Road Trip
Rent a motorbike or hire a private tricycle for the day (₱1,000–₱1,200). Morning: Nagkalit-kalit Waterfall trail (30-min hike, swim in the pool). Lunch: roadside eatery near km 15. Afternoon: Nacpan Beach — swim, relax, watch the sunset over the twin-bay spit. Return to town by 7 PM.
Day 8 — Base at Nacpan Beach
Move accommodation to a Nacpan beachside guesthouse (₱500–₱700/night) for a slower pace. Full day on the beach — swim, read, hire a paddleboard (₱300/hr). Walk to the Calitang twin-beach spit at low tide. Dinner at the beach food stalls: fresh grilled fish and cold San Miguel.
Day 9 — Port Barton Day Trip (Optional) or Second Nacpan Day
Option A: Charter a private van to Port Barton (2.5 hrs south) for a day of island hopping on quieter, cheaper boats (₱600 shared tour). Return same day.
Option B: Second beach day at Nacpan, snorkelling off the rocks at the northern end, afternoon walk to the lighthouse hill viewpoint.
Day 10 — Departure or Coron Ferry
Standard departure: Return to El Nido town, catch the van to PPS (book the night before) or fly from Lio Airport.
Extended adventure: Board the fast ferry to Coron (4–5 hrs, ₱1,400–₱2,200) for another island destination. Book at the port ticket office; check 2go Travel for schedules.
Itinerary Tips
- Build in one completely free day — El Nido is best when you’re not rushing
- Book tours the evening before (not same-morning) to guarantee your preferred operator
- Day 3 (rest day after Taraw) is intentional — the hike is more demanding than it looks
- Rainy season adaptation: replace outdoor hikes with cooking classes, dive lessons, or a massage day; all tours still run on calm mornings
