El Nido 3-Day Itinerary 2026: The Perfect Long Weekend in Palawan

Three days is the minimum to truly experience El Nido — and with the right planning, it’s enough to see the iconic lagoons, visit a stunning beach, and get a feel for this extraordinary corner of Palawan. This 2026 itinerary is designed for travelers flying in from Manila (or elsewhere) with a long weekend to spare. It’s efficient without being rushed, covering the must-sees while leaving room to breathe.

Before You Go: Key Logistics

  • Getting there: Fastest option is Air Swift Manila → Lio Airport (ENI), ~1 hour. Budget option: fly to Puerto Princesa + 5–6hr van to El Nido. See our complete getting there guide
  • Best season: November–April (dry season). December–March is peak — book everything well ahead
  • Pay the environmental fee (₱200) on arrival — valid for your whole stay
  • Carry cash — many operators and restaurants are cash-only; ATMs can run out in peak season
  • Book Tour A in advance — the most popular tour sells out in peak season. Book the night before at minimum

Day 1: Arrive & Explore El Nido Town

Morning: Arrive & Settle In

If flying via Lio Airport, you’ll land mid-morning. Transfer to your hotel (10–15 mins from the airport). If arriving from Puerto Princesa by van, you’ll arrive late afternoon or evening — plan accordingly and don’t schedule tours on arrival day.

Check in, drop your bags, and take a slow walk to orient yourself. El Nido’s main strip (Calle Hama) runs parallel to the beach — everything is walkable from here.

Afternoon: Town & Beach

Head to the public market for fresh fruit and a look at local life. Walk along the waterfront toward Corong-Corong (15 mins south) for views of the limestone cliffs and the bay. The town beach near the pier is good for an afternoon swim — nothing dramatic, but pleasant and within walking distance.

Book your tours for Days 2 and 3 at a tour office on the main strip. Tour A is mandatory for Day 2. For Day 3, choose Tour C (excellent snorkeling at Shimizu Island) or Tour D (different island group, fewer crowds). Pay the ₱200 environmental fee at the tourism office if you haven’t already.

Evening: Sunset & Dinner

Take a tricycle (₱50) to Las Cabanas Beach for sunset — one of El Nido’s most photogenic moments, with the sun dropping behind the islands. Return to town for dinner. Try a beachfront seafood grill for fresh lapu-lapu or tiger prawns, or explore the local carinderia restaurants on the side streets for authentic Filipino food at half the price.

Day 1 Budget Estimate

  • Accommodation: ₱1,000–₱3,000 (depending on choice)
  • Food & drinks: ₱400–₱800
  • Environmental fee: ₱200
  • Tricycle to Las Cabanas + back: ₱100
  • Total Day 1: ₱1,700–₱4,100

Day 2: Tour A — The Iconic Lagoons

Early Morning: Depart by 8am

Tour A is the crown jewel of El Nido and the reason most people visit. The tour covers Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon, Secret Beach, and Shimizu Island — an extraordinary collection of scenery packed into one day. Your bangka departs from the town pier.

Pro tip: If you can afford the premium, book a private bangka for your group (₱4,000–₱8,000 for the boat, not per person). Depart at 7am and reach Big Lagoon before the 20+ shared tour boats arrive around 9:30am. The difference is transformative — glassy water, silence, and the lagoon to yourselves.

Stops on Tour A

  • Big Lagoon — kayak or swim into a vast lagoon enclosed by 200m limestone walls. Arrive early for mirror-flat reflections
  • Small Lagoon — swim through a gap in the rock into a more intimate lagoon. Turquoise, shallow, stunning
  • Secret Beach — swim through an underwater gap (3–4m) to emerge in a hidden cove with white sand and no boat access. The adventure highlight of Tour A
  • Shimizu Island — excellent coral reef snorkeling with diverse fish life. Lunch is served on the beach here — fresh grilled fish, rice, and vegetables
  • 7 Commandos Beach (some tours) — long white sand beach with shallow, calm water. Good for a final swim before heading back

Evening

Tours return around 4:30–5pm. You’ll be sun-kissed and possibly slightly overwhelmed by the beauty. Rest, shower, and head out for a relaxed dinner. The beachfront restaurants at Corong-Corong are perfect for a slow evening meal watching the last light fade over the islands.

Day 2 Budget Estimate

  • Tour A (shared): ₱1,200–₱1,500 (lunch included)
  • National park fee: ₱200–₱400
  • Snorkel gear rental if needed: ₱100–₱200
  • Dinner: ₱300–₱600
  • Total Day 2: ₱1,800–₱2,700

Day 3: Beach Day + Island Hopping

Option A: Tour C (Recommended for Snorkelers)

Tour C covers different stops — Helicopter Island, HP Reef, Star Beach, and Matinloc Shrine. HP Reef is arguably the best snorkeling in the El Nido tour circuit, with coral walls and abundant reef fish. Helicopter Island has a distinctive shape visible from the sea and a great beach for lunch. This is the right choice if underwater life is your priority.

Option B: Nacpan Beach (Recommended for Beach Lovers)

Skip the boat on Day 3 and rent a motorbike (₱600–₱800) for the 45-minute ride north to Nacpan Beach. This twin beach is consistently rated among the Philippines’ finest — 2km of fine white sand, calm shallow water, almost no development. Bring lunch from a market, spend 5–6 hours, and ride back via the coastal road at sunset. Quieter and more scenic than another full tour day.

Afternoon & Evening

Return to El Nido town by 4–5pm. Final sunset at the town waterfront. Splurge dinner at one of the better beachfront restaurants — you’re leaving tomorrow, so celebrate the trip. Try the catch of the day, grilled whole, with garlic rice and cold San Miguel.

Day 3 Budget Estimate

  • Tour C (shared): ₱1,200 (park fee already paid Day 2)
  • OR motorbike rental: ₱600–₱800
  • Food & drinks: ₱400–₱800
  • Total Day 3: ₱1,600–₱2,000

Day 4 (Departure): Morning Market & Goodbye

Even if you’re departing mid-morning, wake up early for a final wander through the public market. Buy dried mango, local honey, or woven souvenirs to take home. Have a slow breakfast at one of the cafes near the main strip. Transfer to Lio Airport or the van terminal for your onward journey.

Tips for a 3-Day Trip

  • Don’t overschedule — two activities per day is enough; El Nido rewards a slower pace
  • Book ahead in peak season — flights, accommodation, and Tour A fill up fast December–March
  • Start tours early — depart by 8am maximum to beat group boats at the best stops
  • Keep a buffer day if possible — weather can cancel tours; a 4-night trip gives you flexibility
  • Pay fees directly — environmental and park fees should be paid at official collection points, not bundled into inflated tour prices
