El Nido Paddleboarding Guide 2026: Best SUP Spots, Rental Tips & Routes
Stand-up paddleboarding is one of El Nido’s most underrated activities — and one of its most rewarding. Gliding across Bacuit Bay at dawn, with limestone karsts mirrored in flat water and not a tour boat in sight, is a profoundly peaceful experience. As of 2026, SUP rental is available in town and several resorts, making it easy to add a paddle session to any El Nido itinerary.
Where to Rent a Paddleboard in El Nido
| Location | Rate | Board Quality | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corong-Corong Beach operators | ₱300–₱400/hr | Good | Most accessible; multiple rental points along beach |
| Las Cabañas Beach | ₱350–₱450/hr | Good–Excellent | Calmer bay; better for beginners |
| Nacpan Beach guesthouses | ₱300–₱400/hr | Fair–Good | Best open-ocean SUP; check board condition first |
| Mid-range resort guests | Included or ₱200–₱300/hr | Good–Excellent | Ask at check-in; quality boards usually available |
Most rental boards are 10–11ft inflatable SUPs (iSUPs) — stable, beginner-friendly, and suited to El Nido’s calm-to-moderate conditions. Hard boards (epoxy) are rarely available for rent; if you want a high-performance board, bring your own bag-packed inflatable.
Best SUP Spots in El Nido
1. Corong-Corong Bay at Dawn
Conditions: Flat calm 6–8 AM | Difficulty: Beginner
The bay in front of El Nido town is mirror-flat in the early morning before sea breezes develop. Launch from the main beach and paddle northward along the limestone headland — the karst reflections on still water at sunrise are extraordinary. Return before 8:30 AM when wind picks up. Distance: 3–6 km depending on route. No guide needed; stay within 200m of shore.
2. Las Cabañas Bay
Conditions: Calm–light chop | Difficulty: Beginner
The southern bay at Las Cabañas is sheltered by a headland and remains calm even when Corong-Corong has some chop. Good for longer sessions and beginners who want protected water. The cable car viewpoint overhead makes for an unusual perspective from the water. Paddle from the rental point along the headland edge for the best scenery.
3. Nacpan Beach (Northern End)
Conditions: Calm–moderate depending on wind | Difficulty: Intermediate
The northern bay at Nacpan is more exposed than town but rewards with dramatic open-ocean scenery. The best SUP window here is 7–9 AM; by 11 AM the trade wind often creates chop that’s challenging for beginners. Paddle north along the beach and around the rocky point for views of the twin beach spit from the water. Check conditions before renting — don’t paddle in whitecap conditions.
4. Lagoon Entry Zones (Tour A/C)
Conditions: Calm (sheltered) | Difficulty: Intermediate
The bangka anchoring areas outside the Big and Small Lagoon entrances are calm, clear water that’s excellent for SUP — you can paddle the approach channels that tour kayaks use, getting a slow, self-paced view of the karst walls. Note: SUP boards are not available for rent at the lagoons — you’d need to transport your rental board on a private charter. Discuss with your captain in advance.
5. Marimegmeg / Second Las Cabañas Bay
Conditions: Very calm | Difficulty: Beginner
The second (western) Las Cabañas bay is the calmest paddleboarding water in El Nido — enclosed, protected, and rarely crowded. Ideal for first-timers or for a relaxed sunset paddle. Rent from the beach operators and paddle toward the headland for a 360-degree karst panorama.
SUP Safety Rules for El Nido
- Always wear a leash — losing a board in open water in Bacuit Bay requires a boat rescue. Leashes should be included with rental; check before departing.
- Don’t paddle in whitecap conditions — if you can see white crests on the bay, the wind is too strong for SUP. Conditions change fast; always start earlier than you think necessary.
- Stay out of boat lanes — the main bangka traffic runs from the beach to the outer islands. Paddle along the shoreline, not across open water in the middle of the bay.
- Reef-safe sunscreen only — you’ll be falling in frequently when learning; chemical sunscreens harm the reef.
- Wear a rash guard — lying prone or kneeling on the board exposes skin to intense sun reflection from the water surface.
SUP Yoga in El Nido
Several yoga instructors offer SUP yoga sessions on the flat-calm morning bays — a genuinely fun experience that challenges balance in a new way. Sessions typically run 60–75 minutes at ₱800–₱1,200/person including board rental. Ask at your guesthouse or check noticeboards at Corong-Corong Beach.
Wind Conditions by Season
- November–April (NE trade winds): Light and predictable, 10–20 kph. Best conditions for SUP. Morning sessions (before 9 AM) are flattest.
- May–October (SW monsoon): Stronger and gustier, 15–35 kph. Only sheltered bays suitable for SUP; open coast paddling not recommended.
