1. Big Lagoon (Tour A)
El Nido’s most iconic shot — turquoise water enclosed by vertical limestone karsts. The best angle is from a kayak at water level, looking toward the karst walls. Go early (first boat departure) for calm water and no crowds. Part of Tour A.
2. Small Lagoon (Tour A)
The Small Lagoon’s narrow entrance and enclosed emerald water create a dramatic composition. Kayak through the entrance at low tide for the best interior shots. The light inside the lagoon is extraordinary at midday when the sun is directly overhead.
3. Nacpan Beach Twin Formation
The aerial view of Nacpan’s twin beaches joined at a narrow sandbar is one of the Philippines’ most shared images. From ground level, the 4km stretch of golden sand against turquoise water is equally stunning. Best light: early morning (7–9am) before the day-trippers arrive.
4. Secret Beach (Tour C)
Secret Beach — accessed by swimming through a narrow rock opening — creates a dramatic reveal shot. The hidden cove with its white sand and crystal water is one of El Nido’s most magical spots. Bring a waterproof camera.
5. Las Cabanas Sunset
The sunset view from Las Cabanas Beach, with the Bacuit Archipelago’s islands silhouetted against an orange sky, is El Nido’s most iconic sunset shot. Arrive by 5pm for a good position. See our sunset guide for timing.
6. Corong-Corong Beach at Golden Hour
Corong-Corong’s beach bars and fishing boats at golden hour create a warm, atmospheric composition — very different from the dramatic lagoon shots. The reflection of the karst islands in the calm bay water is particularly striking.
7. Helicopter Island (Tour B)
Helicopter Island — named for its shape from above — has a beautiful beach with the island’s distinctive profile as a backdrop. The beach itself is photogenic, but the real shot is from the water looking back at the island’s silhouette.
8. Matinloc Shrine Viewpoint (Tour C)
The abandoned shrine on Matinloc Island offers one of El Nido’s best elevated viewpoints — a panoramic view of the southern Bacuit Archipelago. The combination of the shrine’s architecture and the island scenery creates a unique composition.
9. El Nido Town at Sunrise
El Nido town’s beach at sunrise — fishing boats in the foreground, limestone karsts behind — is a classic shot that most visitors miss by sleeping in. Set your alarm for 5:30am.
10. Cadlao Lagoon (Tour B)
Cadlao Lagoon’s calm, clear water and surrounding jungle create a lush, green composition very different from the more famous lagoons. Less crowded than Tour A stops — better for unobstructed shots.
11. Cliff Jumping at Shimizu Island
Action shots of cliff jumping at Shimizu Island — with the turquoise water and karst backdrop — are among El Nido’s most dramatic images. A waterproof camera or underwater housing is essential.
12. Nacpan Viewpoint
The viewpoint above Nacpan Beach (accessible by a short hike from the beach) offers the elevated perspective that makes the twin beach formation so striking. Best at sunrise or late afternoon when the light is warm and directional.
