Five days in El Nido is the sweet spot — enough time to complete all four island-hopping tours, explore the mainland, relax on Nacpan Beach, and discover the best local food without feeling rushed. This El Nido 5-day itinerary is designed for first-timers and returning visitors alike, balancing iconic highlights with hidden gems.
We’ve planned this itinerary to account for weather patterns, boat availability, and energy levels — so you don’t end up exhausted by day three.

Day 1: Arrival & Getting Oriented
Morning / Afternoon — Arrive & Check In
Most visitors fly into Lio Airport (El Nido) via Air Swift from Manila (~1 hour), or fly to Puerto Princesa and take a 5–6 hour van transfer. Either way, check into your accommodation and take it easy — you have a big week ahead.
Where to stay:
- Budget: Happiness Hostel, Matinloc Hostel (₱600–₱1,200/night)
- Mid-range: El Nido Cove Resort, Spin Designer Hostel (₱2,500–₱4,500)
- Splurge: Lio Beach Resort, Ten Knots Resort (₱6,000+)
Evening — Town Walk & Sunset
Walk along the Corong-Corong beachfront for El Nido’s famous sunset. Grab a table at Republica Sunset Bar for drinks with views over the Bacuit Bay. For dinner, try Altrove (Italian, excellent pasta) or El Nido Pensionne for Filipino favorites like kare-kare and sinigang.
Day 2: Tour A — Big Lagoon & Small Lagoon
Tour A is the most popular island-hopping tour and for good reason — it includes El Nido’s most spectacular lagoons. Book in advance (tours fill up quickly December–March). See our complete Tour A Guide for detailed stop-by-stop info.
| Stop | Highlight | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Big Lagoon | Turquoise water, kayaking, iconic photos | ~1.5 hrs |
| Small Lagoon | Serene kayak through narrow rock passage | ~1 hr |
| Secret Beach | Swim through rock hole to hidden paradise | ~45 min |
| Seven Commandos | Lunch, swimming, snorkeling | ~2 hrs |
| Payong-Payong Beach | Snorkeling, relaxing | ~45 min |
Tour A cost: ₱1,400–₱1,800 including boat, guide, lunch, and entrance fees. Tours depart 8:00–9:00am and return by 5:00pm.
Tip: Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a waterproof bag, and ₱200 for Big Lagoon kayak rental if you want to paddle yourself.
Day 3: Tour C — Caves, Shrines & Hidden Beach
Tour C is longer and more remote than Tour A, visiting the outer islands and one of El Nido’s most breathtaking spots: Hidden Beach. Check our full Tour C Guide for everything you need to know.
| Stop | Highlight | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Helicopter Island | Named for its helicopter-rotor shape, great snorkeling | Bring gear or rent on boat |
| Star Beach | White sand, calm water | Good for swimming |
| Hidden Beach | Secret cove, spectacular cliff views | Must-visit on any El Nido trip |
| Matinloc Shrine | Old chapel ruins on cliffside with panoramic views | Climb is worth it |
| Tapiutan Island | Snorkeling, colorful reef fish | 30-min snorkel stop |
Tour C cost: ₱1,500–₱2,000. More remote = rougher seas possible. Check weather the night before.
Evening: After a full day on the water, keep it simple. Try the famous Squidos Beach Bar for live music and grilled seafood on the beach.
Day 4: Nacpan Beach — El Nido’s Secret Masterpiece
Take a break from boat tours and spend the day at Nacpan Beach — a 4km stretch of powdery white sand that consistently ranks among Asia’s most beautiful beaches. It’s 45 minutes north of El Nido town by motorbike or tricycle.
Getting There
- Tricycle: ₱500–₱700 round trip (shared or private)
- Motorbike rental: ₱500–₱600/day — rent the night before from town. See our Motorbike Rental Guide
- Shared van: ₱200–₱300 each way (ask at your accommodation)
What to Do at Nacpan
- Walk the full 4km beach (takes 45–60 min at a leisurely pace)
- Continue to Calitang Beach — the twin beach at the northern end
- Swim in calm, clear water (mornings are calmer; afternoons can have waves)
- Enjoy fresh seafood and cold San Miguel beers at the beach shacks (₱150–₱400 per dish)
- Watch the sunset from the north end of the beach (spectacular)
Tip: Arrive early (by 9am) to beat day-trippers. Stay until sunset for the best light. Bring cash — no ATMs near Nacpan.
Day 5: Tour B + Departure
If your flight is afternoon or evening, squeeze in Tour B in the morning — it’s the shortest tour (returning by 1–2pm) and visits stunning spots like Pinagbuyutan Island (one of El Nido’s most photographed beaches) and Cudugnon Cave.
| Stop | Highlight |
|---|---|
| Pinagbuyutan Island | Perfect white sand, crystal water, great for photos |
| Cudugnon Cave | Pre-colonial burial cave with ancient pottery shards |
| Cathedral Cave | Dramatic sea cave accessible at low tide |
| Entalula Island | Good snorkeling, lunch spot |
See our full Tour B Guide for what to expect. Tour B departs at 9am and returns by 1:30–2pm, leaving you time to pack, shower, and head to the airport.
If your flight is morning: Skip Tour B and do a relaxed kayak around the bay, or visit the El Nido town market for last-minute pasalubong (souvenirs). See our El Nido Shopping Guide for what to buy.
